The Friends is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation made up of volunteers interested in supporting and enhancing the programs, services, and materials available to the community of Carlisle through Gleason Public Library. Our intent is to bring the people of Carlisle together to enjoy this great community resource. View the Friends bylaws online here. In order to serve as many of the interests of the community as possible, we organize and/or fund ongoing and special programs and services:

  • Museum Passes
  • The Great Pumpkin Spectacle
  • The Winter and Summer Reading Programs
  • The Authors’ Series
  • Book Swaps and Sales
  • Book Groups
  • Speakers for all ages and interests
  • Seismograph

In addition, we fund enhancements to the collection and equipment, usually in response to a wish list we request from the staff, or work in concert with the Trustees to assist with their programs or special projects. We publicize library events and programs generated by the staff, the Trustees, and our own Friends group, and work to maintain communication and cooperation with everyone who works for the benefit of Gleason Public Library.

Monies given to The Friends of Gleason Public Library support present and planned programs and projects. We encourage the Carlisle community to suggest new ways to enhance our library’s goals and to join us in our activities. We guarantee that you’ll make friends by being a Friend.
